Combining the clear lines of good design, comfort and sustainable quality is the ambition of solpuri. For life on the sunny side, the German company manufactures purist, timeless furniture that meets the highest standards. Particularly popular with customers: tables with surfaces made of Dekton by Cosentino.
For furniture, life in the sun can be like the vacations: beautiful, but too short. “Outdoors, materials are exposed to much more stress, especially UV radiation and temperature changes from hot to frosty or even salty sea air,” knows solpuri's co-manager Florian Mesch, whose family has been manufacturing outdoor furniture for three generations.
Who wants to furnish free spaces in a more sustainable way, must therefore not make any compromises. At solpuri, this applies to the design, the materials and their processing. The frames are made of stainless steel, powder-coated aluminum or TÜV-certified and fair-trade grade A teak, the covers of UV- and weather-resistant high-tech fibers.
“For tabletops, many of our customers choose Dekton,” says Mesch. “They often already know the material from the kitchen studio and may have used it themselves – whether as a furniture surface, floor tile, wall or facade cladding. It is virtually non-porous and therefore stain-, scratch- and weather-resistant. Manufacturer Cosentino offers numerous well-done designs that delight many customers.”
Dekton consists exclusively of natural and recycled mineral particles that are compacted using 25,000 tons of pressure – 2.5 times the weight of the Eiffel Tower – and sintered at 1,200 °C to form an ultra-compact and ultra-robust surface. Dekton practically passes through the metamorphic processes that take tens of thousands of years for natural stone in a controlled manner in just a few hours.
The production of the slabs measuring 320 cm x 144 cm in thicknesses ranging from 0.4 cm to 3 cm is carried out using 100% electricity from renewable sources and 99% recycled water. This helps to ensure that Dekton is CO2-neutral throughout the entire product life cycle. Cutting is done individually, whereby various panel and edge shapes as well as continuous grains, such as for extending tables, can be realized.
The material is highly homogeneous and retains its properties and color permanently – Cosentino guarantees 25 years. “Even if something does accidentally fall on the tabletop, it won't shatter right away because it is reinforced with glass fibers on the underside,” explains Florian Mesch. “It is important to us that customers enjoy solpuri products over a long period of time. And Dekton is almost indestructible.”
