Two tables

fabio gianoli interior designer デザイナー として

The project concerns 2 tables. Two unique elements, in my mind two sculptures, conceived and developed to complete and characterize the Meeting Room and the office of the General Manager of an important pharmaceutical company based in Switzerland.Incredible motivation for me, who believe in the art of making simple things unforgettable.

And on these simple data I began to think.
I started from the vision of two different shapes, I would have liked them to be a tribute to “archistars” such as Liebeskind and Zaha Hadid, both sharing the same colour, white, and material, KRION \ Solid Surface.
I chose this material for two reasons related to the physics of the elements; i.e. its malleability, ideal for adapting to any type of shape, and its "strength" being able to resist even large leverage stresses.

But I also believe in logic, in addition to applied sciences and my inspiration is linked to its antibacterial properties, a fundamental link, given that we are within a company that creates pharmaceutical products.
I wanted the rooms and the tables to communicate with each other, which is why they are facing each other, within completely glazed spaces united and divided by a void that overlooks the reception area below.

For "the Director's office" I thought of a single faceted monolith inclined on all sides that would serve as an executive table and location for internal meetings. Seen in plan view, its shape of a "broken line" within a square space allows the Director to always maintain a position of vision (or control) over all the internal spaces of the offices. The internal part of this block, completely in Krion, headquarters of the operational side, has been completely emptied and all the electrical and control equipment has been inserted inside.

The "Meeting Room" was another real challenge, an experiment.
I started from a small simple object that has always intrigued and fascinated me, the spinning top. Playing with balance, defying gravity and its time, creating a shape that emerges from all the classic meeting tables. To try, I thought of only one head of the table positioned on the opposite side of the entrance to the room; the table arises from a vortex on the ground and lengthens extending for over 5 meters cantilevered towards the window. This harmonic form that tapers towards the extreme gives the table and the room a sense of elegant and simple lightness, amplified by a cut of light recessed on the wall parallel to the table and by a mirrored wall opposite the same and the inside it hides a screen used during internal meetings.

The shape was created after a long process of single thermoformed molds and then welded and joined into a single element measuring approximately 5 meters by 1.6 metres. The resistance to bending loads is made possible by an iron frame positioned inside and fixed to the floor.
